Rip-Tide
I jumped In the pattern of wave after wave,
It was salty and cool, a memory to save.
Laughing with my brothers, having lots of fun,
A glance at the boiling, golden sun.
Waves towering over my head,
A shadow as dark as under my bed.
The water rushed out and with it I went,
Away from the shore I quickly was sent.
I was gliding along with no fear at my side,
But I quickly figured out that I was in a riptide!
I remembered what my dad had said, just the day before,
When you are in a riptide, swim parallel to the shore.
So I followed his advice, and swam right around,
That troublesome riptide, and got to firm ground.
