When I Got My Dog

When my parents told me we were getting a new dog, I was so happy.  We went to a house and my brother and I played with the puppies.  One puppy came to me and sat on my lap.  I said, “This is the one we should get!”  Then the puppy leapt off my lap and ran to my brother and gave him a lot of licks.  Then it ran back to its brothers and sisters and played with them.  When we left, my parents told me we were getting that dog.  “What should we name it?” I asked.  Then my mom came up with Oscar.  “I like that name,” my dad said.  “Us too!” said me and my brother.  The next morning, my mom called the lady. She asked if she could have Oscar ready by that afternoon.  My dad went to pick the puppy up.  When he came back, I ran to his car.  He got a box out of the backseat.  He took off the lid and a tiny face popped up.  I reached for the puppy and he let me hold him.  I love my dog!

Snow-worm

My dog, Shane, was a Snow-Worm.
When there was a huge snowstorm 2 years ago, he was a melted caramel, thrashing about in the diamond snow.
The squash of snow was light, and faint.
I was surprised that Shane could even breathe! I myself could barely walk.
Most of the snow was golden white, untouched, a still lake of beautiful, happy sorrow. But that lake had a rock thrown into it, my little Snow-Worm. Making thousands of ripples, Shane crashed into the Eternal Pond, in the Garden of Eden. A puddle of the juice of the Golden Apple, of Immortal Ambrosia.
But that Worm stopped that fairytale, that orange twang. He added a spank of citrus. I loved my dog, and I still do. He was the boing of the eye of newt, of daisy. My Snow-worm lives forever. Frosty, the icicle of a fudge pop, the fizz of perfect soda, the magic of the magic wand.
My dear Worm, frosty but not cold, Sad, but not unhappy, Never forgotten, but never remembered, My Snow-Worm, never forgotten, but never there.  He is my perfect chocolate magic, of a dog.

Saturdays

By far Saturdays are my favorite day of the week! That day I do the most things that are fun. I usually have a friend come over I almost always go to lunch with my family. I have a good time. We go to Shake Shack a lot on Saturdays. I order a Shack burger. Then we sit down. The place is usually as packed as a World Series baseball game. We eat and talk about what our plans are. Then we leave. I have great times!
Every Saturday I have something fun to do with my family. Whether it is lunch or bowling, it is fun. Saturdays are great days!

Field Day

          Splash! Slip! Crash! its field day!!!  People are slipping down the water slide getting dunked in the dunk tank getting splashed with water and having FUN! Field day is a day close to the end of the year where there are all these fun games. There is a water slide a dunk tank limbo laundry games and many more. Classes are split up into teams so we can play against each other. One of the activities is well, I forgot the name but here is how you play. One person is sitting on a chair holding a bucket on their head. There is a big bin across from you. With small balls in them and in the bin also is water. And your team has to take them and squeeze the water out and when the cup is full you have to dunk it. That is one of my favorite games. Field day is a lot of fun and it is totally something to look forward to.

The Airport
When I was at the airport, I went though the scanning machine and it beeped because my belt was metal and I thought they were going to execute me. I was very scared. But the airport lady just took my belt off, and I was fine. After we went through that, we sent my sister to go see if the plane was leaving or not. If it was then she was going to wave to us. We ran down to the plane and got on it quickly.

Raccoons on Mother's Day       

On Mothers day my family had a fire going on when I saw a raccoon! It made terrible noises, but then I saw it fighting a possum! My dad threw a smoke bomb!  I dove behind a small rock wall! We had to call someone to trap them.

Bull Riding
“Hey Evan want to ride a bull?” said Tyler. ”Sure I’ll do anything you want me to.” said Evan. But then, Evan began to shake with fear. He thought about going to the hospital. Evan said, “Umm Tyler, I think riding a bull is a little dangerous.” “Then I will be the only one who is going to ride a bull.” “Fine, I’ll practice riding a bull.” “I said, “Practice!!!”  “Ok, Ok!” But Evan is still scared of riding a bull.   Evan is dreaming about going to the hospital. So Evan gets on the bull. Tyler says to Evan, “Don’t be scared.” “Ok” so Evan gets on the bull.” And he gets thrown off the bull.” So they never ever ride a bull again.

Stranded


One cloudy summer day Jake and his dad were in their boat. “How do you like the boat ride?” asked Jake’s dad. “I love it!” replied Jake. “This is the best boat ride ever!” Suddenly it started raining. “Get in the cabin.” said Jake’s dad. Jake ran in cabin. He shut the door behind him. Jake heard his dad screaming. He opened the cabin door just in time to see his dad get blown off the boat. The wind blew Jake in the cabin. The wind also shut the cabin door. Jake didn’t bother trying to open the door. He was too tired. He fell asleep. When he woke up he heard a soft wind blowing. When he opened the door he said “where am I?”
He saw birds flying in the sky. He could see monkeys swinging in trees. He could see the palm trees a few yards away. He could feel the soft wind blowing in his face. He could feel the nice warm sun on his back. He could smell the salty sea. He could see the bananas on the trees.
When he looked back he saw that the motor was broken. It looked impassable to fix without a toolbox. He got out of the boat and got a banana out of a tree. He unpeeled the banana and ate it. It tasted so good. Jake was really worried. He was stranded on an island without his dad. He didn’t notice how tired he was. Before he knew it he passed out. When he woke up some of the bananas were covered in sand. That was before he noticed how wet he was. It must have rained last night. Jake said to himself. He only saw a few bananas that he could still eat. He ate two of them.
A few days later while he was looking for fresh water in the boat he stumbled upon a hatch. Without thinking he opened it. He found a tool box. “Hay” Jake said. “I could use this to fix the motor. 1st he fixed the propeller. He used the screwdriver to screw the propeller on the motor. Then he screwed on a couple screws that came out. It was hard work. After a lot of screwing, hammering he was done.
He was ready to put the boat in the water. Then he put the last three bananas on the boat. After he pushed the off the sand he started the motor. He pushed the pedal and the boat zoomed out to sea.
Then he saw a man flouting on his back in the water. He stopped the boat. He recognized that face. “Dad.” yelled Jake. Jake heard nothing. He must be un-conches or dead Jake said to himself. He didn’t want to believe that his dad was dead. He dove in the water and brought him on the boat. Jake could here his dad breathing. He was alive!
 Jake started the motor again.
When he got back to the dock he parked the boat. Then he called 911 and an ambulance came and took his father to the hospital.
Then he walked home. When he got to his house his mom was waiting. “What took you so long and were is dad.” she axed. “Let me tell what happened.” Jake said. Then Jake told his mom what happened. “I am glad you are safe.” said Jake’s mom after Jake finished the story.
Then Jake’s mom gave Jake his dinner which was pizza. Then Jake went to bed.

Hershey Park

On April 9, 2012 I went to Hershey Park in Pennsylvania with my cousins. In case you were wondering, it is next to the place where they make Hershey’s chocolate. I even went to the factory! But that’s another story. As soon as we went in I saw some huge stuffed animals with giant heads. I asked my parents if we could try to win them. They said okay. You had to throw a ball in a jar. I tried but missed every time. My brother tried but missed every time. My cousin tried and he made it! He chose a leopard. He named it Bobby the Bighead (BtB). Then my cousin, my mom, and I went on a roller coaster called Comet. My dad and brother were too chicken to go on. We went up, then DOWN! I think it went over 70 miles an hour. We went over a river. There was a good view. Then we went on bumper cars. In the beginning I didn’t bump anyone. Then, near the end, I rammed into my dad! Then we went on swings. It sounds boring but it’s actually really fun. It lifts you up 40 feet into the air and spins you around really fast. Once again my dad and brother were to chicken to go on. Next I went on a pirate ship. When one side was on ground level the other was 40 feet into the air. I sat at the very end so when I did go down it would be fun. When I went down I couldn’t move my body. My brother and dad (being there typical selves) sat in the middle. My dad said he was terrified and my brother said the middle is the scariest.  No way brother! Then I went on something called Starship America. It spins you around and you can make it go up and down. I controlled it. I made it go up and down. Then I went on Comet again. When I went up I saw Venus and Orion. This time I couldn’t see the lake. It was funJ

DOGGY

I don’t have a dog so a few times a year I go to my cousin’s house because they have a dog. It’s special because Jake the dog is loyal and he’s a good companion. One time Jake and I tried to see who’s faster. I almost beat him but he speeded up like a rocket. This is how it happened. “Ruff, ruff.”
“Come here boy do you want to race?” “Ruff!” Okay, ready, set, go. “Wow you’re really fast. I can’t believe you won.” Later on it was time to go. “I’ll see you in a few months. Bye! See you later.” Booms zoom.

Mankind

I went to Lake Mohegan with my dad and my friend, Jack. I was about 8. We ran and ran until we found a place. It had a little stream. So we went in it. It lead us to two small places made of sand. So we went on them. It was so cool. There were so many animals that lived there. There were ducks, butterflies, frogs, and more. I was happy there. It was a place of adventure. I called it Mankind.

Super Bowl 46

“Yes!” I scream. Were going to the Super Bowl!  The Giants defeated the 49ers.There playing the Patriots in the Super Bowl. My dad made a deal with me when we lost to the Redskins that if the Giants went to the Super Bowl we would go.  When we got to the Super Bowl we parked in the G garage.  Then we went inside the Giant’s hotel hoping to see a Giant but we didn’t.  Then we went inside Lucas Oil. We saw one of my dad’s friends there and he was sitting close to us.  I got a bunch of pictures of the players practicing.  My favorite picture was of Eli Manning making this cool David Tyree catch.  The game was about to start.  They had a count down of when were going to be live in 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Were live the game started the Pats picked to kick.  So the Giants got the ball a quick three in out.  The patriots got the ball on the 30.  Tom Brady back to pass. Sacked! By Jason Pierre Paul for a 10 yard loss Tom Brady under pressure loses the football!  Picks it up 10 yard loss.  Next play Justin Tuck and Tom Brady back in the end zone. Brady chucks it away. The refs huddle there was nobody down there they say.  They threw the flag. Intentional grounding and the play will result as a safety. Yes’s!
I scream. We’re up two nothing. GO GIANTS! The
Giants got the ball and passed to Hakeem Nicks across the middle. He caught for a 20 yard gain.  Then we hand it off to Ahmead Bradshaw and he jukes out Moore. 1st down.  “I love this game!” I scream. I get a hot dog and get back quickly. I could smell popcorn. I wanted it so I asked my dad for more money to get it. Best game ever.

Playing with Dolphins

I knew we would have fun when we went to play with dolphins at the Miami Seaquarium. It was the time of my life. Jared, Dad and I had so much fun. But to get our wet suits it took a long time. We had to wait on the longest line I’ve ever seen. We waited and waited and waited some more. Finally, we were in the front of the line. We got our wetsuits and went to the locker rooms. I went to the girl’s one by myself, while my dad and Jared went to the boys room. I wasn’t able to zip my wetsuit all the way up. When I got out of the locker room I asked someone to zip it up. I zipped up my dad’s wetsuit and we went to watch a movie about dolphins. In about six or seven minutes a woman came in and turned the movie off. She talked about the rules and where we can and can’t touch the dolphins. When she was done we got put into groups and I was in group 1. Our group was special because we got Echo, the son of the star, Flipper. We went in the pool. It was freezing because the dolphins needed it cold. We started playing. First we threw the ball to the dolphin. My brother got to throw the ball first. Then I went. One other person went, and then the teacher said that you now have the choice of passing the ball to Echo or to throwing it. After everybody threw or passed the ball to Echo, we did a handshake with Echo. We would go up one by one, and hold our hand out and Echo would come out of the water and give us his flipper. I went first. I held out my hand and he came out of the water and gave me his flipper. I held onto the flipper while the cameraman took a picture of me. Then Jared did the same thing as me. Everyone else went and then we moved on. Next was the kissing part of the event. We each kissed the dolphin. This time someone I didn’t know went up and help her lip to the top of the dolphin’s mouth, because the bottom part of her lip had cuts from the other dolphins. The cameraman took a picture. The rest of us went and did the same thing. Next, we stood as a family and the dolphins jumped behind us. My family went first. The dolphin did the wrong kind of jump but we didn’t care. After everyone had gone the dolphins raced. Some of them cheated so we don’t know who won. Then we got out of the pool. I had a great time swimming with the dolphins.

Watermelon Eating

I wait for the call. I look down at my slice of watermelon, and compare it to others. It’s big, but I know I can do it.
“ONE….TWO….THREE….GO!!!!”
The watermelon felt cool in my mouth. The cheering around me was like a million lions roaring in anger. I took two bites of it and swallowed. I repeat this until there was no more red left. I stick out my tongue out and raise my hand. I look around. No one else has their hand up- I’VE WON!!!!!!

Every year when I go to Nantucket for summer vacation, I (and my family) go to town square for the 4th of July celebration. There are lots of contests and activities, like the pie eating contest and the sand shakers (little bottles full of colored sand). But my favorite has, is, and always will be, the watermelon eating contest. I’ve won it 4 times in a row. My sister won 6 times in a row, but then she stopped doing it. I want to beat her record.

What’s His Name? 
                                


            “Yes!” I cried we are finally here!” I cried, excitedly. My mom and I were visiting the local animal shelter. I love animals, so therefore, I love to visit the poor homeless animals to cheer them up. I really don’t understand why people who don’t have any allergies and can afford the animals don’t want them. They are just so harmless and cute! They are also great companions! Of coarse, we were not here to buy the animals but to love them. We told the lady at the desk what we wanted. After a kitten or two, a tiny striped kitten caught my mom’s eye. She pointed him out to me. “May we please see him?” asked my mom, pointing at him and smiling at me. She winked. I smiled. “Absolutely!” answered the lady. Soon, we were playing and cuddling with a tiny adorable kitten named Ross. My mom called someone after we had finished playing with the kitten with cat toys and cuddling him like a baby. He had the softest fur! “Who is it and why!” I asked my mom 100 times. Finally, my mom got quite fed up with me so she said, “Do you want the kitten or not!” “WE ARE GETTING THE KITTEN?!” I almost screamed. “Sssshhhhhhhhh!” answered my mom. I immediately closed my mouth and knew to stop talking. So I did.  My hands got sweaty and my mind raced. My brother and sister were at Iroquoi Spring Sleep away camp at the time. When we decided we wanted to take him home the lady at the desk said she thought he couldn’t leave his sister. We didn’t want to take his sister. We liked Ross better. He was a better fit for our family. The lady at the desk checked with the manager about Ross leaving his sister. “Please, please, please!” I thought and I was pretty sure Ross was thinking “Please, please, please!” too. I mean, who doesn’t want a home? We ended up with a kitten named Stripes in our family. That made three pets. Two cats and a dog. My siblings were a part of the name Striped thanks to visiting day at the camp. In a book that I read a dog’s name was Flash. We had also liked the name Rascal from a different book that I read in the same series. Stripes was, and still, is very quick. So now, we have Comet, (Our cat) Alfie, (Our dog) and Flash. (Our kitten). Flash is as striped as a tiger or even a zebra and we all love him!

Rock Climbing


We went rock climbing on Saturday and I got to the top almost every time. I got to the top on the yellow, orange, and blue but I couldn’t get to the top on the green one.

Last Days

Bling! Bling! Bling! It was the last day of school and everyone was cheering!  They were screaming and yelling as loud as they could. They were so excited to finally get out of school.  I was scared because next year was third grade and I wasn’t ready.  Everyone else was so thrilled and excited to be going into third grade.  I was scared because I didn’t know what teacher I would get.  It didn’t really matter to me.  It was so fun to get out of school.  I was sad because I liked school.  It was almost . What would happen if I had another year of 2nd grade, I thought.  Now, it was and the bell was about to ring.  Everyone was screaming, “Summer!  Summer! Summer!”  The bell rang and it was time to leave 2nd grade behind. I ended up getting Mr. Cerny and he turned out to be nice.

LEMONADE STAND              

ONE DAY MY SISTER HAD A LEMONADE STAND, AND I ASKED TO JOIN HER BUT I MADE  THE  WRONG  CHOICE  SHE SAID NO WHY WOULD  YOU WANT TO HAVE ONE  WITH ME ,IT’S THE MIDDLE OF WINTER. OHH BETTER CHECK NEXT TIME!

Turks and Caicos

 “Are we there yet Mom?” I groaned as my stomach finished its gymnastics routine with a triple flip. “Yes, we’ll be there in a couple of minutes.” A couple minutes later, we were in the car going to the house that my grandma had rented for us and our other cousins. The water was so clear and inviting that when I got there I changed into my bathing suit and went into the water with Sherry, my cousin. The sun was shining, reflecting off the clear light blue water, which reminded me that I needed to put on sunscreen. When we finally went inside the sun was setting. I couldn’t wait until tomorrow.

Radio City

Over the weekend I went to Radio City to see the Rockets Christmas Spectacular. The show was fantastic! Some of it was even in 3D! The 3D part was amazing! When Santa was throwing the presents down it looked like they were coming right at you. My favorite part was when all these girls formed a pyramid on stairs. They were all wearing sparkly dresses.
