Summer Camp at Compo
It was hot summer’s day at Camp Compo . It was sunny with only one cloud in the sky. The beach was crowded, especially for a Friday. I was happy because Emily, Sasha and I were at camp together. We went to the edge of the water to swim. I dipped my toe into the water. It was so cool and refreshing. We took a few steps back and ran knee deep into the water.
Our counselors called to us to warn us about jellyfish in the water. I didn’t see anything. Suddenly, I felt something wrap around my ankle. I reached down and grabbed at it. It was slimy and felt like tentacles. When it brought it to the top of the water, I realized that it was only seaweed. I felt embarrassed. Did my friends see how scared I was? No, because they were playing in the water.
