The Leap Of Faith
It was a bright and colorful day in the Bahamas. We were at Atlantis, a hotel that has a water park, a pool and a beach. My friends, their parents, and I were at the water park.
As I looked around I saw the sky, a periwinkle blue the bunch of tan umbrellas, and the bright red stone burning people’s feet. There were slides that were 20 feet tall around me, all different colors. Aqua, tan, and many others. I had that tropical feeling, when you see a lot of bright colors at once. It warmed my heart. The second you stepped into the wonder land of water and slides, you could hear laughter. The rushing water, and of course, screams. It smelled hot and sticky.
I was waiting at the stone bridge right over the most impressive water side I had ever seen in my life. The water slide was called the leap of faith. We patiently watched for my friend Jesse to come sliding down. It took a while but when he did, every body accept me, rushed to the other side of the bridge, to see how he did.
I darted through people trying to get to the leap of faith. I ignored all of the “slow downs!” and the “stop running!” that the supervisors called to me. I sped up the slippery steps leading to the slide. I was trying to cut people in line, trying to speed to the top. Finally when I had gotten so high that I could see the water rushing down the leap of faith, caring people down, down, down, I decided to wait in line. Boom, Boom, Boom, my heart was pounding in exitment. I felt so antsy, pacing, telling my self to calm down, I almost went crazy.
When I did get to the top I did not dare to look down the slide. For fear that I would run back down the stairs. There were 3 people in front of me, 2, 1. They all went down screaming. I shuttered, each time getting more and more scared.
Finally when It. was my turn I thought to my self “you’re crazy for doing this.” But I was at the top, and it was my turn. So the woman patrolling the area said “when the light turn’s green go.” So when the light eventually when the light turned green, I took over my fear, a little bit. I laid back, crossed my arms, legs, and fingers. Then the water took me away. I stifled a scream. As I laid there, my heart pounding in my chest, my eyes squeezed shut. I heard the wind whipping around my ears. My body skimmed the bottom of the slide. I squinted, and tried to see something but all I saw was a blur of light. After about 5 to10 seconds the slide went flat.
I was surrounded in a tube with hammer head sharks swimming around it. I heard the “blub-blub-blub” of the sharks. Then SPLAT SPLASH! The leap of faith spit me out into the landing pool.
When I stood up I had waste up my nose, but I did not care. I looked up and saw my friends all staring down at me in amazement and exitment. I stared back. The world stopped for one quick moment, then it was back to life. My legs wobbled at first and I fell in to the water. My eyesight was blurry but I was proud of how brave I had been. I had done it even though I was scared.
