The Barn Behind

The gray barn
Alone on the barren field
Waiting to be unlocked
Watching for the others
Stranded lost in gray
Looking up at the sky
Searching for the light
In the empty spaces
Where could they be?
Alone in the dark?
Wandering free
Unlike me
Somewhat alone
Except for the sky
The swift green fields and I
The soft wind blows
The wolves howl
The owls perch together you see
Unlike me
But where am I
Lost alone
Underneath its soft beige tone
The simple breeze
The dark gray sky
And plain old me
The barn behind

Ferrari

There is a Ferrari driving fast in the street
The roaring of the motor is very loud and free
The driver is rich and mean
He is shouting I am wild and free.

The color of the Ferrari is red
Is so beautiful I want to buy
One just like it

If you buy a Ferrari
I recommended
They are fast and they make
You feel cool.

Colors of the World

Magical colors flashing bright at me
Red, blue, pink, yellow and many more
In their majestic cups

It seems like a rainbow shining supreme
Colors are pictured in your own way
Nothing can keep those tints in a cup
You can use those shades in your mind for a painting

Paintings are your own imagination
You can think of them what you want
That is done by the colors you need
Colors will bring your imagination to life

You can build a story on a painting
A poem even
That will make you go wild

BOO!!

WHEN MY FRIENDS AND I WALKED
UP TO THAT SCARY HOUSE
IT FELT AS IF A GOBLIN OR A GHOST
WAS GOING TO POUNCE!

ALL THOSE JACK-O-LANTERNS
SITTING THERE BEING SPOOKY
SNEEKING THROUGH THAT SCARY HOUSE
MADE US ALL FEEL PUKEY

OUTSIDE THERE IS THUNDER AND LIGHTNING
NOT ONLY THAT BUT BIG THICK
COB WEBS ARE FRIGHTNING

AS THE TALL GRASS IN THE FRONT YARD SWAYS
INFRONT OF US IS WHERE A MUMMY LAYS

WRAPPED IN SOME WHITE CLOTH
I THINK IT’S BEING EATEN BY A MOTH

WALKING UP THOSE CREEKING STAIRS
IN THAT SCARY HOUSE
WHILE WE ALL FOLLOW A MOUSE

VAMPIRES AND BATS HIDE IN THE CORNER
AS WE STARE AT A SAD MOURNER

WHEN WE WALK INTO THAT DARK ROOM
THE DOOR SHUTS “BOOM!”

“BOO!”

“GOT YOU!”

Halloween Frights
I’m not afraid of Halloween
It’s absolutely true
Except for maybe a couple things
Or should I say a few

The jack ‘o’ lanterns with scary faces
That stare from every door
Everywhere I try to look
I get scared a little more

The ghosts that line the streets
Making noises everywhere,
Are another one of those things
That give me quite a scare
Vampires give me nightmares
And pop up in other dreams
And for some odd reason,
 They always end in screams

I see that you can say
That I am scared of this night
But you might be hiding something
 That gives you a fright

Leaving for Kiawah

Have you ever left for vacation without all your family? Did you ever think you forgot to do something? Or forgot to pack something? Well that’s part of being 10 years old and I’ve done that.

I was flying with my grandparents. Everyone else was driving. Before leaving I said good bye to everyone but my dad. I was mad at my dad so I didn’t say good bye to him. Now I wished I had. I realized that just because I was mad at my dad that is no reason not to say good bye.
         *  *  *
My dad was at home crying because he wished I had said good bye. He didn’t understand why I didn’t say good bye. He knew I was mad at him but he thought that was no reason not to say good bye. My dad was coming on vacation too, so he had to leave even though he was very sad.
 *  *  *
My plane had just arrived at the airport and I stretched while I got out of my seat. I maneuvered out of the tunnel with my grandparents. We rushed to get our luggage. The airport was so crowded and busy we were dodging people and swaying side to side. It was like we were in traffic because there were so many people but a ton of people were moving super fast. Finally we got to the luggage carousel but we had to wait for a while because no luggage was coming out. Eventually we figured out that we were at the wrong carousel so we moved to the correct one. After a little bit of waiting my grandparents’ luggage came around then mine. We walked out front with our luggage and we waited for a little bit for our family to come pick us up so we came inside and called them.

Unfortunately they said they weren’t going to be here for at least another hour. I passed time by playing with my grandma’s I pad. Finally they arrived. I apologized to my dad for not saying good bye. We made up and were so happy together.

The Last Ray of Sunshine

The last ray of sunshine
Is the last light of day
Beaming through the trees
Like a spotlight in a play

The last ray of sunshine
Is a smile on a baby’s face
Shining down on me
Like a sweet chocolate taste

The last ray of sunshine
Is a hope upon the land
Leading them to light
Or giving them a hand

The last ray of sunshine
Is a sliver of apple pie
Lighting up the day
And is now saying goodbye

Friday Night

Finally, it’s Friday night and I know what I want to do? And don’t you just love the sleepovers, Basketball Practice and sleeping in!

One thing that I would die for is a sleepover just like a Mom throwing herself in front of the bus instead of her baby. To do is sleepovers. Every once in a while my parents let me invite a couple of friends over to have a spectacularly fun sleepover. I usually go to Frank Pepe’s because the pizza is so hot and delicious there. After we eat my mom usually has a movie already downloaded from I Tunes. My favorite movie we have so far seen is Other Guys because the mix of action and adventure is to die for. Sleepovers are also very fun because you can get to know your friends better because how they act in school is not how they act in your house.

Basketball is also a great contribution to a Friday night because many of my friends are on my basketball team. My favorite part of basketball practice is the water breaks.  At CMS there is a boy’s locker room and there is a water cooler. We always take a cup full of water and put it under a giant hair dryer. Then you get a shower. Also in the beginning of practice we dash to the other side of the gym and hide under the wrestling mats. After that the dads try to tackle us.

Probably my favorite part of a Friday is sleeping in. After a long, hard week at school you put all your thoughts aside and drift asleep. Sleeping in is also amazing because if I usually sleep past my parents sometimes bring me donuts from coffee an’.
It is also great because the next mourning I have two games, soccer and a basketball, and sleep always puts me at the top of my game.
These are the reasons why I love Friday night.

One day in the summer I was in New Jersey. On this day I met up with our family friends the Githens. Brooke is 10, Taylor is 12, Catherine is the mom and Bill is the dad. Together we were going to SIX FLAG GREAT ADVENTURE. I was super exited. Well, so was every one else. We split into two cars. I went in one car with Carly, Taylor, Brooke and their parents. Sasha, my cousin Patrick and my parents were in another car.
By our house it was a beautiful day but as we started to get closer to Six Flags it got darker and darker and then it started to rain! We were all so upset we want to go so badly. We all thought we would just turn back and go home. But we stopped at a gas station to talk to each other. The parents got out and started to talk. They turned back and looked at us a lot (I don’t know why but they did). When they came back to the car my mom said “We are going to go and see if the weather clears by the time we get there” I grew a smile on my face.
When we got to Six Flags we parked and started to walk into the park. Some of the rides were open but some were closed because of the rain. We went on Nitro first and it got my heart beating real fast. It was so fun we went on it again. After we got off the ride the second time it was sunny. I was so happy that we didn’t go back home. Now all of the rides were opening again and so we went to the other rides like Batman and Superman, El Toro, and Green Lantern.
But then … it was time for KING DA KA!!!!!!!! I was so terrified. The ride goes all the way up, and then all the way down, well then a couple of bumps but that’s nothing. As we walked over to King Da Ka I got more scared at every step.  We got in line and I was shaking and I started to cry. I started to second guess myself much more than two times. We waited in line for what felt like an hour but in a blink of an eye we were next to go. The cart in front zoomed off and our cart came in. I nervously stepped into the cart and sat down. There were a lot of straps so you are safe. I thought that I was going to pee myself. The cart moved on to the starting area and I wanted to scream so loud. Then I heard a “click” and then… ZOOM you’re off. I’m screaming in total fear, excitement and because I had to go pee. As I come over the hill I totally freak out and then “oh no” the cart turns over the hill. I feel like I am going to die. My face feels like it is being pushed back and as we got closer to the ground I felt like I was going to die. Then it swoops you up and you go over two big hills. It was the best!
It was the best day I ever had I hope we come back next year!

Halloween Frights

The ghosts come out
The sky is dimmed
Try not to pout
And have no doubt

Don’t get bitten
The vampire is loose
Don’t show your fear
For all you know,
He could be near

The mummies mumble
To make you stumble
So keep your eyes open,
Oh, and stop moping

The screech of the witch
Has such a high pitch
So listen close,
She is the one who’s
Heard the most

Denmark

Denmark has a very odd name but odd is special! There are so many different things you can learn about, what you can see, what you can eat and where Denmark is from! Come on!
Denmark by itself is part of Europe! You know its Denmark because it sort of looks like a little Africa, Unlike Africa though Denmark is not HOT because its south from the Arctic Circle so there for it is VERY cold. Denmark is East of Canada (North America) and west of Asia.
We talked about where it is but what about what you can see? My favorite place to go is Tivoli, the queen’s old palace and the factory’s. Tivoli is an amusement park with bunch of fun rides and games to play and to go on with your family even go on the big chair wheel at night to see the lights of Tivoli and the city mixed with the bright stars it makes a beautiful collage in the sky.
The Queens palace is also as beautiful and as big as Tivoli. Just walking in the bathroom it looks great! You can see the beautiful thrones with precious Rubies and gold on the chair same as the beautiful gifted, jeweled crown or covered in velvet patterns…
“I got the golden ticket!” for… pens?”
Yes the famous pen factory, take a tour to see more pens being made and put into boxes. Buy more pens everywhere! Odd but special subject to talk about!
I bet your wondering “Ew Danish food!” but no we eat a lot of stuff but just in a different way like a French hot dog is like a hot pocket only with a hot dog inside instead of the outside to! Yummy meatballs are good to! It really makes your stomach growl for more! Dessert! Pie with only cream and fruit… “HOLY COW! IM GETTING HUNGRIER BY THE MINUTE!
Oh I love Denmark
               Even if it is odd…

The Light of warmth

When I see that bright light it makes me feel warm and sweet.
When I see that warm light it makes me feel safe
When I see that little flame I melt with warmth

This is the light of warmth.
The lights of family
The light of food
This is the light of warmth

When I spot that wax melting
I get close to the little flame
I smile and hold the warmth within my face

These are the lights of flames
The light of Christmas
The light of Hanukkah
These are the lights of warmth

Portal 2

Imagine 200 years into the future; you’d think humans are doing great, but sadly no. glados, aperture science’s killer robot core was once a human named Caroline that worked for the former owner Cave Johnson. She now runs the facility along with her two testing robots p-body and atlas,
As glados says to them… “You don’t know pride, you don’t know fear you don’t know anything.” They live in the hub of the cooperative testing adhesive or co-op for short. They saved science on more then one occasion, but they are stupid at times and keep exploding multiple times, and they get re-assembled every time. Chell is one of the human test subject of science, stored with cryogenics, her only wish is to kill glados again, (play portal 1 if you want to find out how that happened) and to escape this mess of a test facility, never to see it again! She partners with the moron robot wheatly, big mistake. When she puts wheatly in charge and glados into a potato, he thinks he did all the work while Chell did nothing. Really it’s the other way around! He sends them to old aperture with potato glados. Want to know more? Then go out and buy portal 2 at your local game stop or go to steam games.com (no space) and buy a copy now!

Brothers Going to Camp

When my brothers go to camp it feels kind of weird because our house becomes really empty. However it feels great to be the oldest kid in the household for two weeks.
It feels weird especially when my brother Ben goes because he shares a room with me. I am used to talking with him before we go to sleep and we always have a laugh. My other brother is Will, who is turning sixteen on May 10. He is very strong, so it is not any fun without him at our house. He can throw me in the air and hold my hands and spin me around.
I really don’t like it when there are only four people in our house instead of six. And usually it’s three because my dad is often in Los Angeles and New York City. My mom is only gone when my dad is home.
When my brother is packing it kind of makes me sad because then I know that they are about to leave in the next day or two. I usually help my brother Ben pack his bags but I really don’t like to because it makes me sad. Sometimes I go with my dad to take them to camp. It is about an hour ride to get there but it is worth it. I rarely ever give them hugs but I did last summer and it made my brothers smile.
My sister gets really sad when they leave because she likes to sleep in my room when they are not home and I usually say no to her and then she gets mad at me. I say no because I stay up late on my ipod touch, to stories or listen to music. I love to write, so I write when in bed and I write with the lights on so my sister would not be able to sleep. She also doesn’t like to write or read so she wouldn’t want to stay up with me. I can stay up way later when my brother Ben isn’t at the house because he is usually tired after a long day in the summer.
There are only a couple of things I like about my brothers going to camp. My mom, dad, sister and I can go out more often and go out for lunch. I love to spend time with my mom because we can talk about things we can’t talk about normally when my siblings are around.
As I’ve said many times I really do not like it when my bros go to camp. My sister definitely doesn’t like it either. I never really appreciated how much they mean to me until they go to camp.

                                Overcoming My Fear

Mom, I don’t think I can do it.” I said this as I was about to go on Space Mountain in California. I was going crazy seeing people get off the ride dazed and confused. For a six year old, it was scary.
My parents said to me, “Eli, calm down.” It helped a little, but when I was ten people away from the ride my stomach was in a twist. I had butterflies; everything was going wrong.
As I got closer, closer and closer to the ride five, four, three, two, one… we were called. I took really small steps as we were walking to the loading zone my dad and mom tried to help me get in the seat. When I was finally strapped in… I did it I held my self together, stopped being scared, and STOPPED.
When the ride started I was actually smiling. Then we shot into a big black room. I thought I was in a large black hole, not strapped to anything. It was awesome. I was smiling, having fun. This was a great ride but then we stopped. I thought “Is this the end? So why are we stopping.” I then saw a little rock; I think it was an asteroid? It flies right at us. As it got closer to us, it was bigger, bigger and bigger! It was so close I could almost touch it. Now I was scared, my life flashed in front of me. Then I heard a rumble, I’m not sure where it came from. Then before I could guess we were off again. We went around obstacles, hard corners, up hills, down hills. Did I mention this was fun?
We sped up to like 80 mph, passing through asteroids. “I think I see light” I said to my dad. He replied, “I think the ride is over.”  “Dang, it was so fun” I whined.
We went slower, slower and then we stopped. I got out all happy because I overcame my fear, and sad because the ride was over. My dad said to me “Eli did you overcome fear?” “Yes I did daddy!” I was happy to tell myself “Eli you can do it.”

Ding Dong

Ding dong the time is here
Time to face my fears
Zombies, ghost, werewolves
 Jumping out at me
Ding dong the time is here
Time to face my fears
Walking in the dark
Going up to spooky houses
Ringing the doorbells
And getting candy
I hear it’s fun but scary
And great time
 Especially once you get home
Yummy!

Ending

The air brushes my wings
It brushes my whole body
Then my wings froze in place
I plummeted towards the earth
I tried to flap my helpless wings
I hit the ground
My breath grew ragged
I took my last breath
And then I was gone forever

Washing Up on Shore

WOSSH, WASSH, WISSH! These are the sounds I think of when I remember the winter break of ’09.

I was walking on the tan, sandy beach on a warm, winter December day in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I was spending Christmas there in Mexico.

It was an amazing day, a day to be with family. Luckily I was with my aunt, my mom, and my dad. My brother and sister were at the Kid’s Club, so it was just us for the day. We had nothing but excitement. We buried my aunt in the sand and made her into a mermaid. And we had ice cream with sprinkles. Later that afternoon my dad asked me to come in the water with him and I said that I would.

We went in the water with nothing but small waves. They looked like they were about 1 foot tall. Then we turned around and we saw a wave that was as high as a one story house, I mean it was huge. I swear if I had run out of the water onto the beach then I would have been safe, but then again I wouldn’t be telling this story. Anyways my dad and I held hands, closed our eyes and dived as the wave washed over us. I was broken apart from my dad’s hand and thrown around like a rag doll in the water. I felt scared and nervous if I was ever going to see my family again.

When my eyes opened my dad was coming out of the water as my mom and aunt came running to my side with a towel and a hand. My dad walked up to me with a frightened look on his face. I could barely hear his voice because of the water in my ears but I could make out, “Are you okay?” I nodded as my mom got me some water. I couldn’t believe what just happened. If the wave didn’t wash me on shore then I would have drowned. Scared to death I decided to just relax from the horrible experience. My dad got me a wrap up because he thought I was cold, and a necklace because he thought I was sad and needed some cheering up.
*      *       *
Later that day the waves were smaller and softer so my dad asked me to go in. I wanted to be brave but I was still a little bit scared from what had happened earlier. I went in anyways, but this time my dad and I were smart and got out before any big waves got a chance to hit us.

That vacation was very relaxing after the horror that had struck me. I learned a lot that day about common sense and safety, especially when you’re in the water. I learned that if you’re in the water and a big wave comes then you should try and leave before it hits you, because you never know how strong a wave can be.

Lights of December

The light shines as bright as a star
 Shooting across the sky
I see it as a flame but
It’s really a roaring fire

The tiny flame casts a
Shadow across my face
The light that spreads a
 Smile that never ends

These are the lights of the holidays
The lights of Christmas,
The lights of Hanukkah,
These are the lights of December

The lights of December
Are lights that shine all through
The night glowing with a flame
These are the lights of my life
