Turtles

I am proud and gifted for turtles
I wonder if he makes cool noises?
I hear a distant smooth crunch.
I see a shiny shell in the distance.
I want to carefully hold him
I am proud and gifted for turtles.
I pretend I can use his shell as a pillow.
I touch his small little head.
I worry a snake will eat him.
I cry when he starts crying.
I am proud and gifted for turtles.
I understand your habitat is in the wild.
I dream you will leave
I try to make you happy.
I hope you are happy living with me.
I am proud and gifted for turtles.

The World Cup
Soccer provides many different experiences for players and spectators. In fact, once a professional soccer player died on the field. WAIT! STOP! Don’t get scared. There have also been happy moments too, but nothing is better than the World Cup! This event takes every four years. It demonstrates to the world which international team is the best soccer team in the world. Two years ago it was Spain and six years ago it was Italy. Now we will have to wait for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil to see who is victorious then. You might think everyone makes it into the World Cup competition, but you have to qualify. This takes place two years before the World Cup.

Gymnastics Meet

My stomach ties in knots,
my heart starts to pump.
A cloud of chalk swooshes by.
I am about to compete on the bars
I am a bundle of nerves ready for action
Waiting to salute

I stand up on the scary, skinny beam,
                         I
start to jump as though I’m  on a trampoline.
All I see are girls here and there,
leaping, twisting and turning with flair.
I flip off the beam
I salute to the judge
I walk off and hug my coach
There’s an air of excitement
as I wait and see my final score.

SNOW

Snow is like a gentle, fluffy marshmallow.
It is as white as vanilla ice cream.
It is as puffy as sheep’s wool.
When it snows, there is magic.
It is a special magic that brings warmth.
It is the type of magic that brings your family together.
As you huddle together to make a wonderful snowman, it takes shape.
A little more magic makes the snowman come alive in your mind.
When the snow ends, you wish for more.
But just remember it is still winter
and all you need is
a little hope and magic!

I Love Autumn

Let’s go haunt the night,
As the ghosts give us a fright.
Tricker-or-Treaters are wandering the streets,
Eager for delicious treats.
Doorbells are ringing,
Children are grinning
At the enormous assortment of candies.
The colorful leaves hang overhead,
Fluttering in the wind.
A black cat slinks by
as the hour gets late.
When we return home,
the pumpkins greet us with
their bright orange glow.

Dance

Kick, step, turn
my shoe taps the floor
as I do a turn leap.
My heart skips a beat when I tap tap tap with my feet. Relieve lock me feet are pounding the dance floor. Glide to the side as I spin across the floor

Bee

A bee as bright as the sun
Swish swash through the honey
Sticky and slimy
Ahh… a human!
 Swoosh I hear the scream
My stinger is gone
And I am dead!

I Am…
I am a curious and graceful girl who loves humming birds
I wonder if I could keep one as a pet.
I hear a fluttering of wings in my dreams. I see blazing bright colors of humming bird wings.
I want to hold one in my hand and gaze at it.
I am I curios and graceful girl who loves humming birds.
I pretend to flutter my wings and fly.
I feel the humming bird’s wings gently brushing against my arm
I touch the wet leaves on the treetops of the mangroves
I worry that a hawk will swoop one up.
I cry when I humming bird falls to the ground and dies.
I am a curious and graceful girl who loves humming birds.
I understand that I won’t be able to see a humming bird every day.
I say let the humming birds roam free.
I dream that I live in a humming bird forest.
I try to see one every day.
I hope that one day I will be a humming bird researcher.
I am a curious and graceful girl who loves humming birds

Softball

BLAM!
The ball flies in the air.
BANG!
The batter drops the bat
And sprints to first base.
PLOP!
The ball lands in my glove with care.
SWOOSH!
I toss the ball to first base.
STOMP!
The first baseman steps on the base.
The batter is out!

And it starts again.
BATTER UP!

Snow Day

Fluffy is the snow,
White is the snow
Just like a blanket.
Snow is a beauty
like a lush, white, silk pillow
made of clouds.

Perfect for playing in
and  making snow men and snow balls

Swimming

Swish, swish, swish
Was the sound of my kicking.
I was moving my arms as fast as I could
I was speeding at what felt like eighty-five miles per hour
Almost there,
I have almost won
I was panting and trying to catch my breath
The crowd was roaring
I HAD WON!

Horses
Emma Van Riper

I am a girl who is curious about beautiful horses roaming free and wild.
I wonder what goes on in a horses mind.
I hear horses rumbling the ground in packs, like I’m in some kind of earthquake.
I see a graceful chestnut darting through an amazing meadow.
I want a horse of my own- to ride and take care of.
I am a girl who is curious about beautiful horses roaming free and wild.
I pretend to be the best rider in the world.
I feel and grasp the horse’s silky mane.
I touch the powdery clouds when I’m on a crystal white Pegasus flying through the air,
I worry that I’ll get seriously hurt if I fall off.
I cry every single time something bad happens to a horse.
I am a girl who is curious about beautiful horses roaming free and wild.
I understand that I can’t go riding every day.
I say that all horses should be able to roam freely.
I dream I will have my own ranch with all the pretty and strong horses I can possibly have.
I try to ride as often as I can.
I hope to ride all my life.
I am a girl who is curious about beautiful horses roaming free and wild.

Talking Lions

I am an adventurous boy who likes lions.
I wonder if lions can talk to each other.
I hear a humongous loud roar.
I see two lions roaring at each other.
I want to know if they are talking to each other.
I am an adventurous boy who likes lions.
I pretend I am a lion roaring at them.
I feel tempted to go over there.
I touch the lion.
I worry it will bite me.
I cry it bit me.
I am an adventurous boy who likes lions.
I understand lions’ teeth are strong.
I say “OOOOUUUUCCCHHHH.”
I dream I am okay.
I try to make that real.
I hope I didn’t break a bone.
I am an adventurous boy who likes lions.

Apes

I am a sporty boy who cares about apes.
I wonder if apes can be a pet?
I hear the swinging of apes on vines.
I see an ape swinging on 1,000 vines.
I want an ape living in my home.
I am a sporty boy who cares about apes.
I pretend to be an ape crawling on the floor.
I feel apes fur rubbing against my skin.
I touch the vines as im on an ape.
I worry that apes will become endangered.
I cry when the apes are extinct.
I am a sporty boy who cares about apes.
I understand that apes live in the forest.
I say stop cutting down trees.
I dream to help the apes.
I try to swing on vines.
I hope to swing a lot.
I am a sporty boy who cares about apes.

Cats

I am a smart boy that likes cats
I wonder if cats were smart as humans
I hear cries of war and thick claws slashing
I see thousands of cats charging at smaller animals
I want to be a cat and join them
I am a smart boy that likes cats
I pretend I am a bird in the battle against cats
I feel hurt, sad and I can’t fly away
I touch a fallen bird that is almost dead
I worry that soon, I will be dead
I cry when my fellow brothers die
I am a smart boy that likes cats
I understand that the battle is almost over
I say, finish them all, cats
I dream that the birds will keep trying to survive
I try for that not to happen
I hope this will happen one day
I am a smart boy who likes cats

Halloween

October is here,
set for take off!
Get ready,
the ghoulish things
are coming to life.
The black mysterious cats
have green glowing eyes.
The bright colored pumpkins
are coming to life.
The vampires are flying through the air
while their capes flap in the wind .
The goblins are green and ghastly.
The witches soar through the air
on their broom sticks.
Everyone is getting prepared for
HALLOWEEN!

This is October

Outside in October it is dreary
as though somebody has cried.
There are many leaves scattered on the ground
As though a hurricane just blew in.
It is mostly orange, yellow and brown
swirled together like a painting.
The deer and chipmunks are
gathering food to prepare for the winter.
The birds are flying south
and directing each other.
The plants are getting ready
to sleep for the winter.
I can feel autumn
approaching in my bones,
children are getting their costumes
for trick-or- treating,
the days are getting shorter
this is OCTOBER.

Halloween

Goblins appear,
to the graveyard they are bound
Zombies come into sight
as they wander along the ground.

Small witches fly overhead
“Beware, my little kiddies!”
A warning is said.

A Jack-o-Lantern grins at the door,
A skeleton rattles some more.

As I stand and stare,
my teeth are chattering
I feel my heart is pattering.

October’s black cat
winks his eye
to say good-bye.
