Watermelon Eating
I wait for the call. I look down at my slice of watermelon, and compare it to others. It’s big, but I know I can do it.
“ONE….TWO….THREE….GO!!!!”
The watermelon felt cool in my mouth. The cheering around me was like a million lions roaring in anger. I took two bites of it and swallowed. I repeat this until there was no more red left. I stick out my tongue out and raise my hand. I look around. No one else has their hand up- I’VE WON!!!!!!

Every year when I go to Nantucket for summer vacation, I (and my family) go to town square for the 4th of July celebration. There are lots of contests and activities, like the pie eating contest and the sand shakers (little bottles full of colored sand). But my favorite has, is, and always will be, the watermelon eating contest. I’ve won it 4 times in a row. My sister won 6 times in a row, but then she stopped doing it. I want to beat her record.
